Please see the News page for advice about Covid-19.

Gardening is generally a safe activity, but there are some risks to be aware of.  When the site is flooded, you need to take additional precautions as outlined in this advice from November 2019.

When driving on site, please remember the speed limit – 5mph – and remind others if necessary.

Be aware of advice and rules about bonfires and see our page on Weeds for safety advice on the use of weedkillers.

Cripley Meadow has had various uses over the decades, but soil testing has shown that with the usual sensible precautions, it is safe.

Cripley Meadow is in the flood plain, and, every few years, lower lying parts of the site go under water. This news item includes health and safety information specific to our site and flooding. Fortunately, we have not suffered from sewage polluting the site, but some of the advice in this article is worth bearing in mind.

Please note: Cripley Meadow Allotment Association’s group membership of the National Allotment Society  has ceased (September 2021) so if you wish to benefit from NAS’s insurance (up to £50k against accidental injury or loss to others in certain circumstances) you will need to take out individual membership.
